This is absolutely beautiful! If two horses can find this level of compassion for one another then we can too. However; pride, envy, and insecurities get in the way and instead of caring for one another when we are broken; often the people closest to us are the ones to divide, devour, and destroy. I know I’m not the only one to experience a friend turned foe. I have a person that I once considered a dear friend. But divorce causes even friends to take sides and cast judgement. In the wreckage and the healing this person continues to usher in a spirit of division and separation. What appears as a cloak of spiritual pious looks very different when pressed against the knowledge and wisdom of God. The Kingdom of Heaven is founded on a love that restores, redeems, and reconciles…a limitless love! The enemy casts doubt, sows separation and division, and moves to and fro in our world.
Choose your friends wisely! When your life unravels, when your spirit is broken, when all seems lost – they are the ones who will ring the bell of hope and healing, bringing you into the very presence of a loving and compassionate God that is always in the business of restoration! And if they put you down in your weakest moments, remember, the Lord will provide a wounded healer that comes alongside and guides you back to the voice of truth! Thankful for my “Gospel Gorgeous” sisters that ring the bell in my life daily!
This beautiful story speaks so loudly as we are reminded to press into wisdom!:
“Just up the road from my home is a field, with two horses in it.
From a distance, each horse looks like any other horse.
But if you stop your car, or are walking by, you will notice something quite amazing….
Looking into the eyes of one horse will disclose that he is blind. His owner has chosen not to have him put down, but has made a good home for him. This alone is amazing. If you stand nearby and listen, you will hear the sound of a bell. Looking around for the source of the sound, you will see that it comes from the smaller horse in the field.
Attached to the horse’s halter is a small bell. It lets the blind friend know where the other horse is, so he can follow. As you stand and watch these two friends, you’ll see that the horse with the bell is always checking on the blind horse, and that the blind horse will listen for the bell and then slowly walk to where the other horse is, trusting that he will not be led astray.
When the horse with the bell returns to the shelter of the barn each evening, it stops occasionally and looks back, making sure that the blind friend isn’t too far behind to hear the bell. Like the owners of these two horses, God does not throw us away just because we are not perfect or because we have problems or challenges. He watches over us and even brings others into our lives to help us when we are in need.
Sometimes we are the blind horse being guided by the little ringing bell of those who God places in our lives. Other times we are the guide horse, helping others to find their way. Good friends are like that. You may not always see them, but you know they are always there.
Please listen for my bell and I’ll listen for yours, and remember…
be kinder than necessary-
Everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
Live simply,
Love generously,
Care deeply,
Speak kindly!
FOR WE WALK BY FAITH AND NOT BY SIGHT!!!”
“Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap. For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.” Galatians 6:7-8
“Such “wisdom” does not come down from heaven but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic. For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice. But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. Peacemakers who sow in peace reap a harvest of righteousness.” James 3:15-18
