A dear friend reminded me of a movie and book that I read years ago in High School. The Hiding Place, by Corrie Ten Boom. After watching the movie again this week I was reminded of what pure grace and true grit look like. A woman that walked out the Gospel in a very dark part of our history books. She never flinched and stood firm on the solid rock of Jesus Christ. The Word of God flowed from her like steams in a river bed, constantly moving truth and love even in moments of fear. She walked into the depths of human suffering, she risked it all, she lost everything dear to her, but she never stopped. The pure grace of the gospel was her banner and with true grit she persevered in faith. As a result she has left a legacy, “for such a time as this”, to open our hearts and minds to receive the strength of putting our trust in the one who is capable of moving mountains and restoring hope. Her works are powerful and life-giving, out of her journey as a child of God, she was resilient and unshakeable! Now that is a role model we need reminded of today!
