My name is Sherri Lynn, and for more than two decades, I have served as a pastor, teacher, church planter, disciple-maker, and fellow traveler on the journey of faith. Along the way, I have become increasingly convinced that many of our struggles are not simply matters of behavior, discipline, or circumstance. Beneath our actions lie deeper longings and desires that shape our choices, relationships, dreams, disappointments, and spiritual lives.

We all desire something.

We desire love, belonging, significance, security, purpose, peace, comfort, and acceptance. These desires are not accidents. They were placed within us by our Creator. Yet when those God-given desires become disconnected from their intended source, they often lead us down unexpected paths. What was meant to draw us toward God becomes misdirected toward lesser things.

This realization became the foundation of a growing body of work I call Overcoming Divided Desire.

My Journey

Finding God in Everyday Life

I have spent more than twenty years helping people discover that faith is not meant to be confined to Sunday mornings. Today, I lead beside my husband Jim with OVERCOME Ministry that was founded in 2019. We minister to faith communities in Georgia, Florida, and around the globe through our OVERCOME APP. We travel and share the love of Jesus with our spunky Cavapoo, Lil' Miss Glory Hallelujah and we love every minute of it!

Over the last decade and a yearning in my heart, the Lord has placed a growing discipleship movement called The Desired Disciple.

Walking through divorce as a teenager with my parents, divorce as a woman married for 29 years, and losing everything that brought me security (family, home, career), I was left with one question. A question that many I have ministered to over the past 20 years have asked too...

What is wrong with me?

The Lord answered one day sitting next to the ocean's edge and it has been a whisper in my heart for almost a decade. Through books, journals, assessments, teaching, coaching, retreats, and speaking, I help people discover the desires beneath their desires and understand how God redeems and redirects those longings toward their true fulfillment in Christ.

God meets us in ordinary places.

He speaks through Scripture, certainly, but also through conversations, seasons of change, moments of beauty, difficult questions, unexpected detours, and even the desires of our own hearts.

My journey has taken many forms, but the calling has remained the same: helping people know God and recognize His presence in everyday life. I have ministered to all ages and stages of life through deep valleys, milestones, changes, and celebrations. Through every heartbeat is a desire to be known and valued in and through every season of life. What happens when our desires are misdirected or divided?

I believe our deepest desires are not obstacles to faith, they are often invitations into a deeper relationship with the One who created them.
