Welcome,
My name is Sherri Lynn McRae, and for more than two decades, I have served as a pastor, teacher, church planter, disciple-maker, and fellow traveler on the journey of faith. Along the way, I have become increasingly convinced that many of our struggles are not simply matters of behavior, discipline, or circumstance. Beneath our actions lie deeper longings and desires that shape our choices, relationships, dreams, disappointments, and spiritual lives.
We all desire something.
We desire love, belonging, significance, security, purpose, peace, comfort, and acceptance. These desires are not accidents. Our Creator placed them within us. Yet when those God-given desires become disconnected from their intended source, they often lead us down unexpected paths. What was meant to draw us toward God becomes misdirected toward lesser things.
This realization became the foundation of a growing body of work I call Overcoming Divided Desire. The Desired Disciple is a spiritual journey that invites us to notice the desires of our heart and find our way back home to a wholehearted devotion and longing for the giver and sustainer of life, Jesus!

How the Desired Disciple Journey Began
Over the last decade, and with a yearning in my heart, the Lord has placed a growing discipleship movement called Desired Disciple.
Walking through divorce as a teenager with my parents, divorce as a woman married for 29 years, and losing everything that brought security (family, home, career), I was left with one question. A question that many of us often are left thinking...
What is wrong with me?
The Lord answered one day, as I sat at the ocean's edge, and it has been a whisper in my heart for almost a decade. Through books, journals, assessments, teaching, coaching, retreats, and speaking, I help people discover the desire beneath their desires and understand how God redeems and redirects those longings toward their true fulfillment in Christ.
My journey has taken many forms, but the calling has remained the same: helping people know God and recognize His presence in everyday life. I have ministered to all ages and stages of life through deep valleys of grief, milestones, changes, and celebrations. Every heartbeat carries a desire to be known and valued in and through every season of life.
What happens when our desires are misdirected or divided?
I believe our deepest desires are not obstacles to faith; they are often invitations into a deeper relationship with the One who created them.
